Alright, in my last post, Elrond kind of mapped out the way the company should go. (I imagine we'll not get very far beyond Lorien if Sauron has his way, though. ) I hope it all made sense. Its not a terribly hard path to figure out, I don't think. Remember the map of Middle-earth that Nilpy graciously linked to, and refer to it as often as you like and if you run into any confusion.

Sigh
Tanc, there was a reason Athena and I had agreed to have Isotta go after Katalyn.
(and anyway, she'd written that you tried to go after Kat yourself - you would not then council that she needs to be left alone.)

Unless Tancred gave up at the obvious stubbornness of Katalyn. But, as you wish. I'm off to edit.

Athena hopes it so much that she had to go and post her hopefullness twice.... I have to admit, it's some pretty good stuff. Anywho, yes Tanc, your description of where we'll be going made good sense... looks like we'll basically be following the path the Fellowship had planned to take (up until Caradhras when they had to go back and go through Moria)... should be fun! :good: <-- that was suppose to be the little blue thumbsup smiley which seems to not be working.... ;D

He can have seen nothing of her stubbornness, since she has yet to display any.
Questioning Elrond and blowing up at Tancred's insult are not examples of stubornness, but of distrustfulness and a hot temper.
Unless Tancred believes her stubborn because she did not automatically obey him?

Lady D, may I simply say that your last post was perfect. You captured Lady Isotta perfectly for that I am very thankful.

I have come to a conclusion about Kat, in that she will use a guy and then lose him.
I have decided this for various reasons, among them
1. she was abused when she was younger and it is well documented that abused women are more likely to be sexually promiscuous 2. Because she is the one choosing and then dumping the guy, she sees it as herself taking control of an aspect of her life. 3. She is afraid of a real relationship and uses it as a way to prove that emotions " don't matter"
I posted a scene that demonstrated this aspect of her character, in consequence of a misunderstanding between myself and another, that scene has been deleted.
However, please be aware that in the future Kat will be having a sex scene (don't worry though, I would not make it at all explicit. I am aware that this is a family friendly forum). She will then " dump" the guy.
I will not use anyone's character for this purpose without their express permission, but I do intend to have this happen.
If for some reason you have issues with that, please contact me.

Ok everyone, I've asked the learned folks at the Tolkien and Inklings board and consulted the Encyclopedia of Arda for information on the Redhorn Pass. Got some rather vague and even stuffy responses. So, those responses garnered with the visions I get when reading that part of Fellowship, here's some ideas about the Pass we'll be taking.
It was not the swiftest or safest path to take to get from one side of the Misty Mountains to the other. The safest and swiftest path to take would have been to go through Moria. But this of course depended on two things--Moria still being in possession of the Dwarves (i.e. before they were kicked out by the Balrog), and if those same Dwarves liked you enough to let you pass through. Both of those prerequisites are gone at the time of our adventure. So the Redhorn Pass it is!
The Pass itself would be steep, winding, and probably narrow in some places. We can't ride our horses on it. We would have to walk and lead them. It was an organized path, so in its heyday it would have been fairly well paved, probably have cisterns along regular intervals, might have a guardhouse or two, and even though the folks at the Inklings say no, I think the Dwarves would have been complete fools to not have an actual gate at the top to collect tolls from travellers. So maybe a sort of toll-booth at the top. Of course, this was all the Path in its heyday. The Dwarves are no longer there. The Path will probably be broken and worn down in places. There will be no real gate, and the guardhouses will probably be in disrepair. Yet, they'd make for good places to rest at night. There might be caves we could camp in, too. And the cisterns would still have water in them. Hopefully drinkable.
*stops rambling*

*Wonders when Tanc finds the time to come up with this* Wow, you've been doing your research, yet again. I've been athinkin', and now that the musical is over and I have more time, might I be able to tack my chars on to the group? Thing is that they're from Bree (a man and a hobbit) and would therefore either catch the others up or be ahead already... Heh, lemme know if y'all think it's pheasible.

Oversighted research it seems, Bo. I managed to overlook that part of the appendices that says the Balrog had not yet appeared in Moria, and that the Dwarves were still there. But that doesn't really effect our story so far. Just ignore everything I said about the conditions of the Pass. It should be in fairly good shape, and probably guarded by Dwarves. Who would probably demand a higher toll from the Elves in our company. The very pressence of Elves in our company would make the passage through Moria impossible--they wouldn't want to take that path, and the Dwarves would never let them in Moria. Thus, making our taking of the Redhorn Pass the only solution. And you're more than welcome to join, Bo. We'd be happy to have you. Is it possible that your characters could come from the Anduin Vales (Hobbits did live there, after all)? That might make it more plausible if they meet up with us, rather than them catching up with us. But its up to you.
