I think that it looks magnificant. I personally love the whole story of Troy so I am so excited that they are making it into a movie. Who do you think is that guy on the front, Brad Pitt? Well, it promises to be an exciting blood-thirsty movie, I can tell you that much. Though, his armor doesn't quite seem to fit the time period, I can't be sure, but it doesn't look Greek, more Roman than anything. And the sword seems quite small, or is that just me. Well whatever, the pic looks amazing and now I seriously can't wait to see Troy.

Well, there you go! It's just a teaser poster, therefore I can't base my judgement just yet. It didn't give me much information about the film so ... I'm going to wait until the official movie poster comes out (with a tag line) to give my opinion ...

Tsk, tsk, Summer! Being lazy will get you nowhere in life. *silence* HAAAAAAA!!!!!! *guffaws* What am I saying? I'm one of the laziest people ever. But I did happen to go onto imdb.com and yes, Orlando is Prince Paris. Brad plays Achilles, that too. Read the entire summary of the movie here.

woo hoo thanks amy! and the tagline so far is ' a tale of a queen who betrayed her King.' Hmm I'm not an expert on the war, but was Helen in love with Paris and went off willingly? I heard some controversy over this fact.

Possible spoilers, consider yourself warned!
This gets a bit complicated....
In the year 1193 B.C., Paris (Bloom)did some sort of favor for Aphrodite (Goddess of love, my sis). She promised him Helen (supposedly the most beautiful mortal in the world at that time). No one knows, perhaps she was unaware of how Aphrodite had promised her to Paris, but whatever the case, Helen (Kruger), Queen of Sparta, then married Menelaus (Gleeson) who was king of Mycenaean,a prince of Troy. This of course got Paris a bit ticked and he stole Helen back setting the kingdoms of Mycenaean Greece at war with Troy. The Greeks began a bloody siege at Troy that lasted over ten years. Achilles (Pitt) was the greatest hero among the Greeks, while Hector (Bana), the eldest son of Priam (O'Toole), King of Troy, embodied the hopes of the people of his city. And us immortals each took various sides in the argument and fought against each other, one of the reasons that the war dragged on for so long. Of course, one of my peeves with this movie is that they are not going to have anything to do with immortals, which ruins the whole point of it IMO. So, just take out all the stuff about gods and goddess and there you go, a plot summary of the movie.

Ah yes, I read somewhere how they were gonna leave Aphrodite out of the picture, hmm so probably the movie makers are gonna have to twist around a few facts then, because as you put it in the story, I don't think Helen intended to betray her King, tsk tsk naughty naughty Paris! . And what about Helen, what's her role in everything, I have never read Illiad, so how was she potrayed? I mean, her personality, and her feelings? Or was she like, in a trance through the whole thing. And I think Brad is perfect as Achilles! He looks so warrior-like. And thanks for the information Athena!

*bows* always happy to help The Illiad didn't really focus on Helen's thoughts and feelings. Mostly it talked about the gods and the famous heroes of the war and how they interacted, if I am remembering properly.

To express my point of view (and I don't really think it's a huge deal), the Iliad and the whole story of Troy is pretty much sexist. Helen was barely in the story, and she was basically why this whole war started. Aphrodite is being cut out of the film entirely, which is going to change the story in some horrendous ways I don't even want to know about anymore. And Paris was just being seriously selfish and greedy by stealing some guy's wife and just focusing on her physical beauty! Huh.

Well, everything back then would pretty much be considered sexist now. *shrugs* I don't mind it so much, mainly because I realize that's just how things were during that time period.

Yeah, I guess I would agree. Pretty much everything back then would've been sexist. Anyway, it would be funny if they made a parody of feminist demonstrators who time travel back to the time of the Iliad and they get into a sword fight with Menalaus. ;D ;D ;D

Your idea would make a funny fanfic though.
