Okay, who would have thought that a so-called "popcorn movie" would've nabbed 5 Oscars Nominations?? The he he he he.. I just love rubbing it into those people's faces!! *ahem* Anyway, yes, POTC got 5 Academy Awards Nominations, 1. Best Makeup 2. Best Sound Mixing 3. Best Visual Effects 4. Best Sound Editing 5. Best Actor in a Lead Role - (doh! That's Johnny!) Alright alright, winning any might be a little too hopeful, (with a little movie called ROTK competing alongside it) but to get nominated is surely a reward in itself for a so-called 'summer pop-corn flick'. Hah! This year's oscars is gonna be sooooo exciting! Academy Awards Nominees

*Sigh* Darnit Theen, you're exclamation made the screen go all stretchy.
That's awesome news, Summer! (PotC really does have nifty makeup. Maybe enough so to compete with the orcs? Well...) Of course, I really hope Johnny gets the award. He's really a superb actor, and winning an Oscar for just a fun pirate role would give the credit he deserves for being one of the more versatile, talented actors there is. The guys he's up against I'm not really familiar with, though of course I've heard they're good... I've also heard good things about Bill Murray in Lost in Translation. But I'll keep my fingers crossed for Johnny.

Thank you! *Huggles*
Would it be digressing from the topic if we talked about the nominations besides PotC? I'm interested to see what y'all think about the other movies, actors, etc...

I think thats okay Bos ROTK has so many nominations, and it's practically a shoo-in for best pic of the year. Ditto for Finding Nemo for best animation

Well, geez, when the competition's Brother Bear and something I haven't heard of... It's a shame it's an easy win though, because Nemo really is a well done film, technically and emotionally. T'would be cool if the script won its award, but the competition's more heavy there...
