Amrod tried to soothe Andy's wounds with some herbs he learnt from his wanderings, but Andy remained feverish.
"Is there nothing we can do?" whispered Violet, sitting quietly by Amrod's side. Amrod shook his head. "He would need Master Elrond's help..."
Night was slowly creeping in, and sounds of the wild started to encircle them.
Amrod looked around, they are helpless and defenseless! "We should start a fire!" he said and a few hobbits helped him gather some wood.
Suddenly a terrible sound came from the woods, a shriek and then silence, a few moments after that the sound of galloping hooves were heard.
"Four riders." he said slowly.
Isotta, Violet, Andy and Will all sat huddled around him. "Are they elves?" they asked.
"No.... stay here." he replied bluntly and left them in Tancred's care.
Amrod went into the cold forest, holding up a torch, but in the darkness but he could still hear the horses.
"Who's there? Reveal yourself!"
"Reveal your name first, young Ranger." came the reply, it sounded like a gruffy old man.
"I am Amrod, and I am no Ranger."
"Not a ranger eh? Good, good, good." he said.
"And you?"
"I am not important, what is important though is getting help for your sick friend." he said again.
His eyes were now adjusting quite nicely to the darkness, and he could see a big burly man jumping down from his horse, he came over to Amrod, but kicked something on the ground. "Smelly orcs! They were hiding here waiting to ambush you once you are on your way." he continued.
Amrod could also see there were three more horses with him. "Take these horses, Hanif, Adel and Fredo, they are the swiftest horses I have, make your way to Rivendell with them for the others can hold for tonight; help will arrive for them tomorrow, do not worry" he said again, with that he jumped back on his horse and galloped away.
Amrod was left speechless, but yet he sensed something familiar about the mysterious rider. No time for pondering now, he hurried back to the village with the horses in tow.

While Tancred looked after the wounded Violet and Andy, he had his hand on his sword the entire time. He had heard distant noises coming from the direction that Amrod had disappeared to, but could not quite make them out. He clenched his teeth, and waited.
Presently, Amrod returned, but this time with three horses in tow. "Where did you get those," asked Tancred.
Amrod stopped right beside the knight, and answered, "I'm not for sure. Some mysterious, shadowy people spoke to me in rather vague terms, and just gave them to me."
Tancred looked suspiciously at the horses. "Mysterious shadowy figures," he questioned. "Amrod, are you losing your senses? Or perhaps you've been drinking? Should you be accepting horses from complete strangers? How can you trust them? Maybe these are phantom horses, just like those that gave them to you?"
Tancred poked the nearest horse in the neck with his finger to test it out and see if it was real. It sure was. Annoyed, the horse turned and bit the nearest thing to it--Amrod's shoulder! The man jumped back, and winced in pain. Tancred chuckled quietly to himself. "They're real horses alright," he said. "But they still bear you ill will, Amrod! Perhaps you should just walk?"
"No," replied Amrod. "I'll ride. The figure that spoke to me said to take the horses and the most wounded and to ride ahead to Rivendell. He didn't say for sure, but it sounded like the Hobbits that stayed behind would be looked after. And that they would be picked up later tomorrow. I think you, myself, and some of the more wounded Hobbits should go."
"I think you should go, too," said Tancred. "But back to Arthedain! What are you doing here, anyway? I have a few months' leave from the army. I highly doubt you also have leave. The higher ups might think you desserted or something. And you know what happens to desserters!"
"Are you trying to get rid of me," inquired Amrod with a sidelong look at the taller knight.
"Why no," lied Tancred. A lie he instantly regreted. Not because it was a lie against Amrod, but rather that he had been raised to speak truthfully. He just didn't feel like putting up with Amrod right now. "Do as you will," he continued. "Just don't say I didn't warn you."
Tancred quickly clambered up onto the horse that had bitten Amrod; he liked this one already! Violet was raised into the saddle in front of him. Amrod uncomfortably mounted another horse, and the very woozy Andy was set before him. Isotta took another wounded Hobbit (whome noone could remember the name of as he had a rather nasty gash on his head, making him unidentifiable) with her. After words of encouragement and comfort from Tancred to those left behind, the mounted trio gallopped east as quickly as they could.
The remaining Hobbits gathered worriedly around the fire, and set a watch. They had little need to fear though; Amrod's shadowy friends were watching over them the entire time.

Arratil made an attempt to climb the stairs, but the show he put on was less than ammsuing. His lightheadedness and weak knees caused him to stumble, waver and nearly roll down the staircase. "I must have...have cut my arm somehow. D-do you think?" Arratil licked his lips, opening his mouth as if to speak.
The elf was concerned. He met up with another passing elf, who helped Arratil up the stairs. The top came slowly, but once it was there, it was clear sailing.
"I don't know if you don't not know that I don't take well to this," Arratil stumbled on his words. His voice was raspy and stretched out. What he meant to say was, My body doesn't handle wounds well.
The elf was wonfused. "I think it'd be best if we get you to the healer soon. Can you walk?"
"Try," Arratil grunted and made an attempt to walk. He succeeded and they both walked to the healer.

Imthoron was impatient. She had sneaked around the perimeter over two times now, but there was nothing to do. After much hooming and ho huming, Imthoron decided to take a nap.

Aspen rode back to Rivendell, chatting to the hobbits behind her. As she arrived, she saw Lady Arwen and Aranel. She dismounted and ran over to them. She told them the whole story. "We must send carts, surely" said Aranel "Yes, we cannot leave them all there” Arwen added An elf walked past and Arwen told him to get some carts ready. “Are any of you coming back with me?” Aspen asked “I will come.” Was Aranel’s response The carts were gotten ready and the hobbits sheltered and Aranel and Aspen set off to retreive the rest.

Arratil stumbled into the open room. He was laid down upon a comfortable matress as several elfs (most likely healers) overed over top of him.
"Yes, yes, yes. That is a nasty scratch," one said to the other as they removed cut through the sleave of his shirt.
"Just a scratch, that's all," Arratil was dozing off now. His speech was barely a whisper.

As Amrod, Tancred and Isotta rode off into the darkness heading towards Rivendell; Amrod quietly pondered Tancred's words, I wonder why he would think I'm in the Army?. In truth, they were from the same place, and Amrod did occasionally volunteer to fight during times of war, along with his brothers and his father, but they were never officially millitary men.
His heart sank as his thoughts drifted to his father, his father was a great man; Amrod greatly admired him and so did his brothers, it hurt when he realized how he missed him so.
Amrod decided not to think about it too much and concentrated on his riding, Andy was sitting quite comfortably in front of him, and Fredo was as swift as the wind.
And in mere hours, the great Valley was before him, and the House of Elrond was gleaming amidst the moonlight.

It was very early morning when they came to Rivendell. Andy was unconcious for the entire length of the journey; Violet drifted in and out of sleep. She was asleep as the three riders finally came upon Rivendell. Tancred gently shook her awake; he had a feeling that she would want to see it. She opened her eyes, blinking slowly, and gasped as she beheld Rivendell for the first time. She could not remember ever seeing anything more beautiful, and could not imagine ever seeing it's equal. Her eyes drifted up the steep walls of the valley. The sun was just beginning to rise over the tops of the mountains sending down beams of bright light that reflected off the waterfalls, making them sparkle like jewels. Violet could smell the fragrant blossoms of the first flowers of spring; roses, lilies, violets (after which she was named) and countless others. She could hear the songs of nightingales and other birds singing sweetly as they went about their morning business. And Violet also heard singing of another kind, sweeter than any song a bird could sing. She knew immediately that there were Elves nearby.
" Do you hear them singing?" she said suddenly, breaking the silence that had come over the riders.
"What?" said Amrod. "The birds? Yes, they are quite chattery this morning--"
"No, not the birds! Elves are nearby! Can't you hear them?" she said with a bright smile, which quickly faded. "Oh wait, I forgot. Humans have horrible hearing compared to Hobbits. Never mind then," she said, smiling cheerily again. No sooner had she finished speaking then did two Elven guards armed with bows step out of a nearby grove of trees.
"What business brings you to Rivendell? And I advise you to not try anything foolish. There are others whom you cannot see that are watching," one of the Elves said.
"We mean no harm," Tancred began, "A Hobbit village about a hundred miles west of here was attacked. These Hobbits were injured in the ensueing battle; particularly this one," he said, motioning to Andy, "who was wounded with a poison blade. We have done all we can for him, and we feel the only thing that will help him now is Elvish medicine." The Elves spoke in their own tongue for a few moments, discussing what to do.
[A/N: I'm posting this in the common tongue, cause it'll take forever to figure it out in Elvish]
"What shall we do with them, Carnësirion? Do you think their story trustworthy?" asked one Elf.
"Aspen brought word of a Hobbit village that was attacked; these must be from that village, Tanhenion," replied Carnësirion. "We must take them to Lord Elrond. He will know what to do, and he will know if they have any ill intent."
"Very well," said Tanhenion. He turned back to the travelers, and once again spoke in the common tongue. "Come with us, we will lead you to the Lord of the House. Leave your horses, they will be tended to, and they are weary from a long journey." Tanhenion gave a low whistle and some more Elves stepped out from the trees, some taking the reins of the horses and they were led off to the stables. Andy and the other injured Hobbit, whose name they had discovered was Jack Peterson, were carried by other Elves, including Carnësirion, to the Healers. Violet went also to the Healer, but she walked, and chatted with the Elves all the way.
Tanhenion led Tancred, Amrod, and Isotta to the House up an inticately carved staircase until they came to a porch that had low tables and very comfortable looking chairs.
"Wait here," Tanhenion said, "I will alert Lord Elrond of your persence and call you in when he can receive you." And with that, he walked briskly away.

"Amrod" greeted Master Elrond as soon as he stepped out into the beautiful porch where the travellers were waiting. They embraced.
"Why did you not tell the guards you were summoned here by me?" he asked as soon as he arrived.
"I believed you wanted it to be kept secret Elrond, I fear eyes watching us all the way here, and so I decided to keep it to myself until we are safely in your House."
Elrond nodded with a smile, "I understand, we are facing trouble times now, and who might your companions be?"
Amrod introduced the weary travellers, "This is Tancred, a knight of Arthedain, that is Isotta"
Isotta smiled and bowed a little as she was introduced. "Lord Elrond, it is indeed a high honor to be accepted into your House." she said.
"Yes Lord Elrond, I would also like to express my gratitude that you are willing to help these hobbits." said Tancred.
Elrond smiled, "Yes, I know of the mission you were assigned to young knight of Arthedain, alas, evil spreads a little too quickly around these parts now, welcome to Rivendell; I believe you can rest quite well here, and I have assigned rooms for each of you, please make yourselves comfortable."
"Has everyone arrived?" Amrod inquired quietly to Elrond after Tancred and Isotta left the room led by some elves.
"Not yet, we are still awaiting the Elves from Mirkwood, and the others were unable to attend, they are too besieged by war, that is why we need all the help we can get."
Amrod nodded, "That knight, Tancred, I have fought many a war alongside him long ago, and I hope you will consider him a worthy companion on this journey you warned me about in the letter."
"Yes, I believe that is a wise decision." replied Elrond thoughtfully.
Suddenly realizing where he actually was, Amrod looked towards the stables, where their horses were kept.
"You are looking for her, but alas she is not here, she made her way to Trollshaw upon Adel nigh two days past alongside Aspen to retrieve the remaining hobbits, do not be worried, I sent some riders to go with them."
Amrod managed a quick sidelong smile as he attempted to hide his embarassment.
"Go and rest, we shall need you to be refreshed for the Council, I shall call upon you once everyone has arrived." continued Elrond with a reassuring smile.
Amrod nodded and left.

Aspen heard a rustle in the bushes, but perhaps it was just an animal, she carried on talking, but whatever it was seemed to be following them. Aspen slowly plled out an arrow and put it in her bow. Just as well as a single orc sprang out of the bushes. Aspen let the arrow go with a twang, and it hit the snarling orc in the neck.
She scanned the bushes with looking for any more orcs. "Just a lurker" she imformed the others, "probably a surviving one from the Trollshaw. We are only about half a mile away."
They made their way to the Trollshaws to collect the remaining hobbits and men.

Mynawen stood upon a balcony looking out over Rivendell. "Hobbits!" She exclaimed, "There are Hobbits! And two men and a lady with them. I wonder what business they have here?"
As she thought she was talking to herself, Myna jumped with shock when a voice floated up from bellow with a reply. "Their village was attacked by orcs Myna, they have come for aid." Myna peered over the ledge to see the top of Glorfindel's head as he sat below. "The others were with them. Though Amrod was already on his way; there is to be a coucil."
"A council? Whatever for?!" Myna looked puzzled.
"For that answer you'll have to ask Lord Elrond." Glorfindel stood and began to walk up the stairs. "But I am sure it is nothing for you to worry about. After all that if not what you are here for."
"I am here for no reason. I left because I was of no use in Lorien and it seems I am no use here!" Myna laughed.
"We shall see." Answered Glorfindel.

As Phoenix watched the strangers as they got closer and closer to Rivendell. There were halflings amongst them, one in particular had such a sweet voice and seemed amazed at the sight before her. Phoenix smiled, she had once been in the halflings shoes, in awe at the first sight of the last homely house. A handsome man with long brown hair led the party, speaking with Carnësirion, who as usual, sprang from the concealment of bushes on the side of the path. Phoenix laughed to herself, Carnësirion was so predicatable sometimes. Phoenix was also curious about the young woman close to the back of the group. She had the most beautiful wavy red hair Phoenix had ever seen and it shone in the sun light with her every movement.
Phoenix lost sight of the new arrivals when Carnësirion, and Tanhenion led them away. Unable to contain her curiosity about the party Phoenix stood up, and made her way towards the meeting place. For she deduced that that was where they would go. As she approached, Phoenix saw the handsome man leave and Elrond was still there.
"My Lord" Phoenix said respectfully
Elrond turned to her and smiled
"Ah Phoenix, restless again?" Elrond said, mocking her gently
"Yes My Lord, I am afraid that I do not stay in one place for very long" Phoenix replied with a laugh "I was curious about the vistors, is their arrival of importance? I have nt seen halflings and men travel together before. It is a rare sight to me"
"You are too curious for your own good Phoenix, it will be your downfall one of these days" Elrond said, losing his jolly tone and speaking as if he knew something Phoenix did not "I summoned them here. You know the evil is rising again Phoenix, I know you can feel it"
Phoenix glanced away for a moment, her head hung low. She did not like to be reminded of the evil that lurked within.
"Phoenix" Elrond continued in a more gentle tone "You are restless for the outside world, I can see that. You are a wanderer, it is not right for me to keep you here. Speak with them"
Elrond, placed a hand on Phoenix should and squeezed it genty before he returned to his rooms.

Aranel rode swiftly into the night along with Aspen, and arrived early the next day at the Hobbit Village of Trollshaw.
"lye ier telwa Aspen, much devastation has befallen this village." said Aranel as she stepped down from Adel.
"Alas we were, but fortunately some Men drove most of the orcs away." replied Aspen and unmounted her mighty steed.
The other elves brought some elven carriages with them, they shimmer in the pale dawn light, and led the remaining hobbits families unto them.
Aranel walked about the ruined village, and spotted a dead warg with a familiar arrow, she pulled it out and inspected it.
"Amrod..."

Imthoron noticed hobbits in her dreams. She often dreamed of her surroundings. This came as a shock to her, but she ceased to panic. Once they had passed, she awoke. "My, my, my! Hobbits in Rivendell? This must be urgent!" Imthoron thought hobbits in Rivendell was as strange as her presence. "I must acquire some information."
She hoomed up the steps and ducked under branched under the overhang. Knocking several times on the front door, she waited for an answer.

Arratil stumbled, fell and began to roll. He was quite unsure of his whereabouts, but that was of little matter now. He had to stop. He had to stop rolling, tumbling and falling. His head struck a rock, but he felt no pain. "Am I dead?" he pondered as he sommersaulted downward. Just then, his shoulder was slashed in the branches of a bush. Pain shot through his entire body like a bolt of lightning. It flowed to the ends of his fingertips and toes. He hollared, screamed in agony.
Arratil woke up to a white ceiling and elves surrounding him. "Get back! Away! All of you!" he sat up in fright. His head was pounding. Then, he remembered why he was there. "Sorry," Arratil laid back down. "Where is Imthoron?"
